CONFIRMATION

DC-259_edited.jpg

"Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each one of them.  And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit." Acts of the Apostles 2:3-4

In the Sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized person is "sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit" and is strengthened for service to the Body of Christ. Confirmation unites the baptized more closely to the Church. Strengthened by the gift of the Holy Spirit, the confirmed are called to live out more fully their Baptismal mission of spreading the faith by word and deed. Confirmation preparation classes help the candidates to dig deeper into the mysteries of their faith while providing a comprehensive catechesis for the Sacrament so that they might more readily live out their evangelical mission.

HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Confirmation is a two year process, usually taking place in 9th and 10th grade. In addition to your child's Confirmation registration, we will need a copy of your child's Baptism certificate with record of his/her First Holy Communion. Click here to go to our Religious Education page for High School Ministry or contact Becky Hampton, Director of Religious Education: 239-261-5555 or Becky.H@avemariaparish.org.

ADULTS

Confirmation preparation is tailored to the catechetical needs of the candidates. While class schedules will be modified to fit individual circumstances, classes usually begin in January for reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation in the spring. Adults desiring to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation contact our Director of Religious Education, Becky Hampton at 239-261-5555
